1. Application

  - 입학 지원은 먼저 American Medical College Applications Service (AMCAS)에 제출된 공통 지원부터 시작해야 합니다.

※ Supplemental Application

  - AMCAS는 7월 말부터 10월 15일까지 신청서를 받습니다.

  - AMCAS에 신청서를 제출하면 확인되기까지 6~8주가 소요될 수 있습니다. 확인된 지원서는 Duke University School of Medicine

    입학 사무실 데이터베이스에 업로드 됩니다.

  - AMCAS에서 확인된 지원 자료를 받은 후 입학 사무실에서 이메일로 연락을 드려 온라인  추가 지원을 완료하도록 안내합니다 .

  - 완료된 모든 추가 지원 마감일은 11월 15일 오후 11시 59분(동부 표준시)입니다.

  - 귀하의 지원 자료는 가상 인터뷰가 제공되는지 여부를 결정하기 위해 2개 이상의 심사를 통해 전체적으로 평가됩니다.

  - 지원서가 가상 인터뷰 대상으로 고려되면 자세한 내용이 포함된 이메일을 받게 됩니다.

- Applications are received by AMCAS from late July until October 15.

- Keep in mind once you submit your application to AMCAS, six to eight weeks may pass before it is verified. Verified applications are uploaded    to the Duke University  School of Medicine admissions office database.

- After receiving the verified application materials from AMCAS, the admissions office will contact you via email and invite you to complete our      on-line supplemental application.

- The deadline for all completed supplementary applications is November 15 at 11:59 pm EST.

- Your application materials will be evaluated holistically by two or more screened to determine if a virtual interview will be offered.

- If your application is considered for a virtual interview you will receive an email with further details.

2. Grading

  - 지원자는 공인된 College 또는 University에서 학사 학위를 취득해야 합니다.

  - 코로나 19 기간 동안 온라인 과정으로 이수한 학점도 인정됩니다.

  - 뿐만 아니라 수강하고 있는 과목 타입이 학점, P/F, S/U, 철회 등 이어도 인정됩니다.

  - 코로나 19 상황이 변동됨에 따라 변경될 수 있으므로, 지원 시 내용 확인이 필요합니다.

Applicant must have received an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university by the time of matriculation.

Duke will be flexible with grading and will accept online courses during COVID-19. We will accept letter grades, P/F grades, S/U grades, withdraws, etc. The decision you make regarding grading during this pandemic will not negatively impact your application in any way.

Duke will accept online courses for semesters during COVID-19.

3. 선수과목

  - Duke University 지원 시에는 필수로 이수해야 하는 선수과목은 없습니다.

  - 지원자 검토 시에 선수 과목 이외에 MCAT, 사회학/심리학 기반 활동 목록, 에세이 등을 고려합니다. 그리고 인터뷰 시에는

    이러한 다양한 영역에서의 지원자 역량을 평가합니다.

DukeMed no longer requires pre-requisites for course completion at DukeMed. The choice of appropriate course is the student’s

and should prepare them not only for the new MCATs but also broadly for the environment in which student will increasingly be expected to practice medicine.

 Any judgment about your preparation in this area will be based on the MCAT performance, the inclusion of sociology/psychology-based exposure(s) in your list of activities, the quality and breadth/depth of your essays, and if you are invited to interview, how these exposures contribute to mature discussions with our MMI raters and interactions during

the interview day with faculty and students.

[Prerequisite Requirements]

  - 생화학: 생화학의 단일 코스 또는 세포학 및/또는 분자 생물학 및 또는 유전학에서 학제간 강자의 일환으로 생화학의 원칙을 통합한 학업 활동을

    통해 충족될 수 있습니다.

  - 세포생물학: 세포 및/또는 분자생물학 및/또는 유전학의 단일 과정에 의해 달성될 수 있습니다.

  - 통계학/생물통계학: 커리큘럼의 일부로써 현재의 생물의학 및 의료 연구에 대한 의존도가 증가하고 있기 때문에 데이터 분석에서 통계적 방법의

    적용에 대한 이해가 기대됩니다.

  - 물리학: 기초 물리학과 인체 생리학 및 해부학(예: 물리 및/또는 생물물리학)의 상관관계에 대한 이해가 완료되어야 합니다. 연구소는 선택입니다.

  - 심리학: 의료의 사회적 결정요인에 특히 중점을 둔 사회조직의 원리에 대한 소개를 추천합니다.

  - 설명문 작성: 정식 영어 강좌를 포함하지만 이에 국한되지 않는 인문학적 전반에 걸친 설명문 작성 경험은 의학을 준비하는 데 있어 기본적인 요소

    입니다. 이것은 철학, 역사, 공공 정책, 정치학, 종교 등을 포함한 여러 분야의 과정 연구를 통해 성취될 수 있으며, 우등 논문이나 연구 논문의 완성을

    통해 성취될 수 있습니다.

- Biochemistry: May be fulfilled by a single course in Biochemistry, or through coursework which incorporates principles of Biochemistry as part of an interdisciplinary course in Cell and/or Molecular Biology and/or Genetics.

- Cellular Biology: May be fulfilled by a single course in Cell and/or Molecular Biology and/or Genetics.

- Statistics/Biostatistics: An understanding of the application of statistical methods in the analysis of data is expected given the increasing

reliance on current biomedical and healthcare research as part of the curriculum.

- Physics: An understanding of the correlation of basic physics to human physiology and anatomy (e.g. physics and/or biophysics) should be completed. Labs are optional.

- Psychology: An introduction to the basic principles of psychology with emphasis on the biological basis of behavior are recommended.

- Sociology: An introduction to the principles of social organization, with particular emphasis on the social determinants of healthcare is expected.

- Expository Writing: Experience in expository writing across the humanities, including but not limited to formal courses in English, is a fundamental element in the preparation for medicine. This may be accomplished through coursework in a number of disciplines, including but not limited to Philosophy, History, Public Policy, Political Science, Religion, etc. and may be accomplished through an Honors Thesis or completion of a major research paper.

4. MCAT

  - MCAT 점수를 제출하지 않으면, 인터뷰 고려 대상에서 제외됩니다.

  - 지원 시에 MCAT 점수를 제출하지 않은 경우, MCAT을 응시하여 제출한다면 해당 지원자는 재검토됩니다.

  - MCAT 점수 인정 기간 : 2017년 이후의 MCAT 점수부터 인정됩니다.

Duke is still requiring the MCAT test, however, your application can be reviewed and you can be invited for an interview without your score.

If your application was reviewed without an MCAT and a decision was not made, we will re-evaluate your application once your MCAT is submitted. The MCAT test is required for acceptance consideration.

In addition, we will now accept MCAT Scores from as early as 2017.

5. 추천서

  - 추천서는 총 4부를 준비하여 제출하여야 합니다.

  - 추천서 중 2부는 반드시 지원자가 참여한 실험이나 수강한 강의를 담당하고 있는 과학 계열 교수로부터 받아야 합니다.

    이 때, 추천서에는 지원자가 다른 사람과 함께 협업하여 문제를 해결하는 능력을 설명하는 내용이 포함하는 것을 선호합니다.

  - Committee letter를 제출하는 경우에는 별도의 추천서 4부를 제출하지 않아도 됩니다.

Each applicant must submit a minimum of four (4) letter of recommendation; two of which must be from science faculty.

Science faculty may be from experience in either a lab or in a class. A letter from a clinician addressing your ability to work with other would also be helpful.

I f your school submit a committee letter, it appears four letter rule. In other words, if you have a committee letter, you won’t need to submit four letters of recommendation.
